MLL Power Rankings

During the 2013 MLL season, Major League Lacrosse will be using a power ranking system to show fans how their favorite team stacks up against the competition. A teams' power ranking is based on cumulative season statistics, as well as voting conducted by MLL.com's contributing writers. After raw scores from the two are combined, teams will then be rated on a scale of 1-100. That final number will represent a team's power ranking for that week.

Denver Outlaws

95

The comments for the Outlaws have been almost the same week in and week out, theres just not much else to say other than this team is solid top to bottom. They might have the best MLL offense in history, a solid defense led by Lee Zink and a stud between the pipes with Jesse Schwartzman has resulted in the best ever start to an MLL season. They sit at 11-0, 5 more wins and they'll be hoisting the Steinfeld Trophy for the first time in franchise history.

Chesapeake Bayhawks

63

The Bayhawks played one of their strongest offensive games all season, earning their first overtime win. With Casey Powell's return adding a huge boost to the team, along with Chesapeake's unwavering defense, the Bayhawks seem to be peaking at the perfect time for playoff contention.

Hamilton Nationals

The Nationals are setting themselves up for a Championship run. Their 8-3 record is second only to Denver's incredible 11-0. Hamilton has one of the best offenses, with scorers like Kevin Crowley, Joe Walters, and Kevin Cunningham among the best in the League. Rookie Dillon Ward had a great showing in goal for the Nationals, racking up 17 saves in his second game. Hamilton is running like a well-oiled machine. They assisted 77 percent of their goals against Ohio and have assisted on 64 percent this season, the best of any team.

Boston Cannons

The Cannons seem to be maintaining a consistent rhythm throughout their games lately. Start slow, pick up, and then end slow. Only last weekend, they didn't come out victorious. I think this was a much needed gut check for the Cannons after being on a four game winning streak. With three games left, the Cannons are going to need all three wins in hopes of post season play.

Charlotte Hounds

The Hounds' offense and defense clicked this weekend, putting together the 13-12 win over the New York Lizards. While no one player truly stood out, there was a great display of teamwork, including six assists and plenty of strong defensive play. Charlotte is also amongst the top scorers in the League, with 140 goals on the season. Peet Poillon also remains the biggest two-point threat in MLL, with five after week 11.

Rochester Ratlers

Put up a good fight against top-notch Denver. Defense wasn't the issue as Rochester held the Outlaws to their lowest output this season, but they need more than 9 goals to win games. Rochester needs to win out for a chance at Championship Weekend.

New York Lizards

With a loss this week to the Hounds the Lizards have dug themselves into a deep hole. Unless they get their defense going and start producing wins they will definitely make an early exit this season.

Ohio Machine

8

24

For the third straight week, the Machine battled hard, but just couldn't do enough to get the win. The Machine are playing good lacrosse, and the young stars are beginning to gel, but it's past the point where moral victories are good enough. This team is playing better than an eighth ranked squad, but they can't move up the rankings until they start winning games. This team has undeniable talent, but it's time for results.
